Advancing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) Inclusivity Across Higher Education Teaching and Learning Environments

Experiences of discrimination, marginalization and stigmatization negatively affect LGBT+ people’s access to and experience of a wide range of services including higher education. Student and academic communities need to understand the powerful influences of discrimination that many LGBT+ people can face and be confident, willing and equipped to challenge and mitigate factors that cause inequity and less favourable treatment.

This interactive workshop will:
• help you gain insight of discrimination and inequalities faced by LGBT+ people in learning environments
• introduce you to some tools and techniques to develop and deliver teaching and learning that promotes inclusion for LGBT+ people
• introduce you to exercises and resources to support developing your confidence to reflect LGBT+ people in curricula.

The interactive nature of this workshop will also offer you the opportunity to learn best practice from your peers and to share your ideas with them.

Presenters
Mr Maurice O'Brien
Mr Ryan Gamble
