Format: Workshop
Suitable for: All

This workshop focuses on practical strategies for inclusive teaching and aims to develop your confidence in meeting the needs of a wide range of students, including disabled students and students whose first language is not the language of instruction. We will look at some of the ways in which students’ differences can influence learning, and explore the implications for designing discussion sessions, tutorials, lectures and other learning activities.

The second part of the session will offer you an opportunity to think about managing student discussions, particularly dealing with awkward situations and inappropriate or offensive comments, discuss legal requirements, expectations in terms of equality and diversity and you will begin to develop your own approach to managing student interactions in the classroom.
