Systematic Database Searching For Literature Reviews

Your literature review should be a summary of all the evidence on your topic. How do you find that evidence? For most topics you will need to search electronic databases. This workshop introduces you to advanced database searching and shows you the techniques available to develop a more systematic search strategy. You will learn about:

* advanced database searching techniques to develop a more systematic search strategy
* formulating a focused question, identifying important concepts within the question and determining search terms that describe those concepts

NB: You will be encouraged to provide some basic information about your research prior to attending.

The workshop offers hands-on learning, and you will be encouraged to relate the techniques directly to your research topic. Attendees will be encouraged to provide some basic information about your research prior to attending.

NOTE: This session is presented by a health researcher and is probably most useful to those undertaking research in biomedical and health sciences or the social sciences. Examples used are mainly of a Medical Nature.
