Systematic Database Searching For Literature Reviews
Domain: A2 Cognitive abilities

TACE: T - Transition

Format: Workshop
Suitable for: All

Your literature review should be a summary of all the evidence on your topic. How do you find that evidence? For most topics you will need to search electronic databases. This workshop introduces you to advanced database searching and shows you the techniques available to develop a more systematic search strategy. You will learn about:

* formulating a focused question
* identifying important concepts within the question
* identifying search terms to describe those concepts
* key features of strategy development that help make your search more effective
* testing your search to make sure it will find the evidence

The workshop offers hands-on learning, and you will be encouraged to relate the techniques directly to your research topic. Attendees are asked to provide some basic information in advance.

Presenters
Ms Fiona Morgan
