How to Critically Appraise Systematic Reviews and Intervention Studies

This workshop is designed to provide an understanding of how to critically appraise quantitative research papers examining the effectiveness of interventions. By the end of the workshop you should be able to:
* understand what is meant by critical appraisal and why it is necessary
* understand the different types of quantitative intervention studies (randomised and quasi-randomised controlled trials, systematic reviews)
* assess quantitative intervention research for validity, reliability, and applicability
* locate critical appraisal checklists and guides
This is an interactive workshop. Participants will work in groups and are encouraged to share their learning and experiences. It is presented by a health researcher and is probably most useful to those undertaking research in on health and social care topics.
