Critical Appraisal of Research Papers - Qualitative
Domain: A2 Cognitive abilities

This half-day workshop is designed to provide you with an understanding of how to critically appraise qualitative research papers.

By the end of the workshop you should be able to:

- understand what is meant by critical appraisal and why it is necessary
- discuss how to assess the reliability, validity and trustworthiness of different qualitative methods
- locate checklists and guides for critically appraising qualitative studies
- critically appraise a qualitative research study

This is an interactive workshop. Participants will work in groups and are encouraged to share their learning and experiences. It is presented by a health researcher and is probably most useful to those undertaking research on health and social care topics. Attendees will be provided with 1-2 hours of pre-work which will need to be completed before the workshop.
