This course aims to provide you with the ability to write effective abstracts for a variety of situations – papers, conferences, presentations. This course is interactive and you will have the opportunity to share work with others and give/receive feedback.

The session will cover:
* how to structure an abstract
* how to target an audience
* how to write effective opening and closing sentences
* what to include and what to leave out
* the importance of choosing a title and key words

By the end of the workshop you will:
* improve your writing skills
* increase your confidence
* learn to write effective abstracts for a variety of situations

Note: You are asked to bring with you a published abstract from your own discipline that you consider to be well-written or poorly written. If you have already written an abstract or are currently working on one please bring it along.
