The Second Year: Making Effective Progress - Webinar
Domain: B2 Self-management

TACE: C - Completion

Due to Covid-19 the presenter of The Second Year: Making Effective Progress will run as a two-part webinar in one day.

The second year - or middle phase - of a doctorate can be the most challenging. This two-part webinar will help you overcome this challenge, and to maintain the momentum you will need to successfully complete your doctorate on time.

We will look at some critical success factors for the second year of PhD, including defining the scope of the process - really understanding what is required - and then using this as the foundation for establishing core targets:
* Understanding how we need to meet the assessment criteria (and how this will be evaluated)
* Being clear what that means for your argument, and the thesis you will need to produce

All of these elements can then form the basis of solid planning as you move successfully towards the latter stages of your doctorate.

The sessions will be run online, on a single day, with a little thinking to do do in-between. There will be discussions, and plenty of scope to ask questions and receive feedback. You will not need to appear on web-cam, but audio (speakers/headphones & mic) will be needed.

Ahead of this session, it would be useful for you to reflect on your progress through the entire PhD to date’, including thinking about:
* How much you have done
* How far you are through the process (can you put a % on this?)
* What challenges you have overcome…
* What challenges might lie ahead…
* Who can help you in the process…

Please express your interest in this webinar. This session is run via Zoom. Joining instructions will be sent closer to the session date.

The capacity for the webinar is less than the face to face session. Place are on a first come first served basis.
