Dr James Farror
Profile

Dr James Farror works in the Doctoral Academy and leads on different areas of its programme, with a particular focus on professional and career development, research methods, engagement, enterprise, leadership, statistics and programming. This includes formulating and subsequently implementing a range of development opportunities including formal training, events and seminars, online learning, and student-led conferences. He also leads on the development of the Doctoral Academy’s Welsh medium provision, and administers its funding scheme for interdisciplinary activities.

Prior to joining the University, James undertook a PhD in International History at Cardiff Met. After passing without corrections, he then went on to work firstly as a Policy Advisor for the Ministry of Justice and then as a Researcher for the Welsh Government, where he was responsible for undertaking an extended piece of policy research into the provision of energy efficiency measures in the private housing sector. James likes to draw on his experiences of working both within and outside of higher education in his current role, particularly in shaping the Doctoral Academy’s careers portfolio.
