Dr Afia Ahmed

Afia Ahmed is both a practitioner and an academic. She is a Chartered Psychologist with experience in working with a variety of organisations (e.g. UK MoD, Ford, British Steel) and academic institutes. She has completed a PhD in Applied Cognitive Psychology at Cardiff University. Her research interests include teacher stress, situation awareness, organisational morale, fault-finding and problem solving.

Afia works as a Doctoral Academy officer in the Doctoral Academy. She is committed to improving the training for postgraduate researchers. She holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning (PCUTL) qualification and has several years experience in designing and facilitating lectures, workshops and seminars to small and large groups at HE and FE level. Subjects she has taught include biological basis of behaviour, cognitive psychology; work psychology, health and social care and Welsh Baccalaureate.

Afia is a full member of the Occupational Psychology section of the British Psychological Society. She is also a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
