Dr Afia Ahmed
Profile

Afia is a Chartered Psychologist with experience in working with a variety of organisations (e.g. UK MoD, Ford, and British Steel) and academic institutes. She’s passionate about teaching and holds the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning qualification with several years’ experience in designing and facilitating lectures, workshops, and seminars at HE and FE level. Subjects Afia has taught include biological basis of behaviour, cognitive psychology; work psychology, health and social care and Welsh Baccalaureate.

Afia completed a PhD in Applied Cognitive Psychology at Cardiff University, and her research interests include teacher stress, situation awareness, organisational morale, fault-finding, and problem solving.

As the Doctoral Academy Officer at the Cardiff University Doctoral Academy, Afia is committed to researcher development. She leads on the design and production of the annual Doctoral Academy Programme and her portfolio includes areas such as induction, presentation skills, writing, publishing, and wellbeing.

Affiliations held by Afia include full membership of the Occupational Psychology section of the British Psychological Society and Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
